Garbage collapse: after the May holidays, governors' chat rooms were flooded with complaints about garbage dumps

Across Russia, the same problem has emerged since the May holidays: residents are complaining about uncollected trash. In some areas, trash bins are constantly overflowing.

— There are several in the Krasnoyarsk region at once tens Residents of the Oktyabrsky District sent a photo to Governor Mikhail Kotyukov. "The district has turned into a garbage dump," they wrote. Waste disposal problems are also observed in some districts of Krasnoyarsk itself.

In Stavropol, Vladimir Vladimirov, the head of the city, was told about the poor cleanup in Yessentuki, even though the city celebrated its 200th anniversary in March. "It's a disgrace, no one cares!" wrote a local resident.

— The same problems are in Kamchatka. In the regional capital, people complain to dirt, trash, and dust: "Everything is done carelessly," "Overflowing trash cans, dog feces. How much longer can we tolerate this?"

Residents are writing to the governors of the Tomsk and Sverdlovsk regions, as well as Primorsky Krai, about their garbage problems. They hope that their cities will be cleaned up by at least May 9.

But residents of the regions do not always support complaints from their fellow countrymen.

"Write to the President immediately," "Don't you understand that there's no point in writing here?" "We don't have a district head, a mayor, or management companies... You want the governor to come and solve your problem on the spot... Idiocy..."

For years, authorities have been promising that the waste reform launched in 2019, which centralizes waste collection through a regional operator, will clean up cities and towns. But the reform has consistently failed: the country lacks both containers and garbage trucks. писал "Cedar".
