A stub of discord: Michurinsk residents disliked a new art installation in the city center.
Monument to the eaten apple have established at the end of April. According to the authors, it should highlight the benefits of healthy eating, which is championed in the famous science city.
"The unofficial symbol of Michurinsk is an apple, and no one will eat tasteless apples." — the sculptors emphasized.
The stub, by the way, is located not far from the monument to the famous breeder To Ivan Michurin, after whom the city is named.
However, the residents Michurinsk The new art piece sparked outrage: judging by the comments on social media, many saw it as an insult, a sign of bad taste, and even oppression. Some suggested moving the stub from the central square to the administration building or even to the desk of the official responsible for city beautification.
Michurinsk is far from the first city where sculptors' creative ideas have been thwarted by local discontent. "NeMoskva" has already reported on Yakutsk (they erected a monument to a mosquito there), Izhevsk (monument to a programmer with a cat), Permian (monument to the skier), Makhachkala (monument to a girl with flowers) and Altay (monument to the participants of the Great Patriotic War).
