In Kislovodsk, an unknown person set fire to the letter V on a stele at the entrance to the city. And this isn't the first time.

On the arson of a symbol of the Russian invasion Ukraine the mayor of Kislovodsk wrote Evgeny Moiseev.

 "The letter V, which became one of the most recognizable symbols in our country since the beginning of the Second World War, was completely destroyed by arson. All that remains of the symbol is a frame, which city workers have already taken away for restoration," пишет Moiseev.

The incident was captured on a surveillance camera. The video shows a man dressed in black approaching the stele and setting fire to the letter "V" in the city's name. Moiseyev added that this isn't the first such incident and that the arsonist will definitely be found.

The Stavropol police clarified that the search for the perpetrator is already underway. is decided the question of initiating a criminal case.

Kislovodsk was one of the first cities since the start of the Russian-Ukrainian war to replace the Cyrillic letter "В" with the Latin "V." This happened back in March 2022. A few days later, the ill-fated letter doused with red paint. And in January 2023, it set on fire  — then the arsonist was caught and sentenced to 5 years in a general regime penal colony.
