"Rosstat closed its March birth and death data, including by region, in preparation for April, as the death toll there increased by 15% compared to April 2024. This is big news. Effectively, public demographic statistics will be virtually nonexistent in Russia starting in March 2025."
According to Raksha, this is “a clear sign of the failure of regional demographic policy.”
At the same time, the demographer writes, although March “set an absolute anti-record for the average daily number of births for any month during the entire period of statistics collection,” state media report about the increase in the birth rate in March by 3,2% compared to February.
"Rosstat reports that the death rate per 1000 population fell by 0,8% in the third quarter.
