A teenager accused of murdering a taxi driver in Korkino, Chelyabinsk, received a nearly 10-year prison sentence.
The court concluded that the high-profile murder was committed by a 17-year-old deaf-mute. Egor Yurchenko, who is a representative of the local Roma community. He appointed 9 years and 10 months in a correctional colony.
The court ordered Yurchenko's parents to pay two million rubles to the victim's mother.
Let us recall that the 40-year-old taxi driver Elena Sarafanova She was killed last October. Investigators believe the teenager stabbed her several times with a homemade knife and stole her car, which he soon abandoned.
The brutal murder sparked widespread unrest among residents of Korkino: they started burning Roma houses and cars.
Almost immediately, police arrested two suspects in the murder. One of them was later released because they could not prove his involvement in the crime.
