A rally against the animal euthanasia law is planned for Khabarovsk.

The motor rally is planned for June 15. The application for approval specifies up to 100 participants. Animal rights activists told NeMoskva that the administration has not yet issued a decision on approval. 

A euthanasia law was passed in Khabarovsk Krai last week. Animal rights activists have repeatedly got out At a protest against such measures to combat stray animals, signatures were collected against euthanasia, but this did not lead to any results. 

The initiative group sent a letter to Governor Dmitry Demeshin. Animal rights activists believe the law contains loopholes. There are no time limits for defining an "extraordinary situation" for euthanasia, no alternative to killing animals, and no mechanism for handing over animals is defined.

“All of these circumstances, combined with the lack of clear wording that would eliminate the possibility of ambiguous interpretation of the rules, cast doubt on its effectiveness,” write in a letter to the governor, the initiators of the appeal. 

Activists added that most deaths from dog attacks involved pets belonging to owners. Authorities have made no effort to collaborate with volunteers and animal rights activists to implement the trap-and-sterilize program more effectively. 

In the comments, animal rights activists again called on people to "take all the dogs home." Others expressed surprise: "There are so many cruel people in Khabarovsk."

Residents of other regions of the country also spoke out against animal euthanasia, and signatures were issued against the law. brought concerned Russians and in the administration president.
