Nizhny Novgorod residents are complaining about gas service workers: they are disconnecting entire apartment buildings and houses from the gas grid because apartment owners have not signed service contracts.
The disconnection of one of the houses came as a shock to the pensioners. "What does this have to do with me? I have a contract," they asked.
"Your building doesn't have contracts for in-house gas service. This is all about safety first and foremost." said an employee of the Dzerzhinsky branch of Gazprom Gas Distribution Nizhny Novgorod Natalia Dorogova.

The residents of the house were outraged: “Should we be the ones to go and get these agreements [instead of our neighbors]?”.

Lawyers claimthat the "collective liability" of the entire building due to a few people who failed to sign maintenance contracts is illegal. However, Nizhny Novgorod gas workers explain their actions are necessary - all for the safety of people.
