Roskomnadzor is extending its reach even further: telecom operators will be required to disclose traffic routes.
The agency intends to expand its oversight over providers. They will be required to provide Roskomnadzor with detailed technical information about their networks: which devices traffic passes through, how it is routed, and who has access to it. This follows from a document published on the Federal Portal of Draft Regulatory Legal Acts. write "Vedomosti".
The list will include data on traffic passing through technical countermeasures (systems that restrict access to illegal content) and user equipment identification. Previously, operators were required to submit a much shorter list of reports.
The new inspection system will complicate and strengthen the existing monitoring system. Telecom Daily CEO Denis Kuskov notes that this will significantly impact many small operators that still don't filter or even slow down certain traffic.
