The Krasnoyarsk governor and deputies who supported municipal reform have been sued.

The author of the lawsuit is a local political scientist Alexey Aksyutenko. is he claimsthat the law on local government reform was adopted in violation of federal legislation, since it was not submitted to public hearings.

A controversial law initiated by a United Russia governor Mikhail Kotyukov, came into effect today. Under it, 472 municipalities are to merge into 39 districts. As a result, some villages will have to be "managed" from a distance of 300 kilometers or more, and the deputies of village councils and most city councils, who had been helping to establish communication between the authorities and the public for free, will be dismissed.

Residents' protests have been ongoing for several months. Because they are prohibited from holding public events, they are expressing their discontent virtually. put thousands of dislikes under the governor's publications.

Alexey Aksyutenko is one of the protest leaders. In May, he was arrested for seven days because he suggested that participants in the "Immortal Regiment" march should speak out against municipal reform and add the slogan "For my native district" to their posters.

Commenting on his lawsuit against the governor and members of the Legislative Assembly, Aksyutenko clarified that he intends to challenge not only the district mergers but also the "Frankenstein-like institutions" that resulted. After all, the names of the new districts include ones that are difficult to pronounce at first glance: Bolshemurtinsko-Sukhobuzimsky, Idrinsko-Krasnoturansky, and others.
