Composer Valery Shadrin has died in Yakutia. He was previously found with ulcers on his body in a local nursing home.
The renowned composer, producer, and conductor was 64 years old. He spent his final weeks in intensive care. Namsky District Hospital, where he ended up after the scandal at the private nursing home "Cozy House."
In mid-May, a video from the boarding house circulated on social media, in which local residents recognized the honored artist Yakutia Valery Shadrin. "Judging by the footage, his condition is terrible. He's very thin, his ribs are visible, he's emaciated, and covered in ulcers." — Yakut Telegram channels wrote.
On May 14, an interdepartmental inspection was conducted at the "Cozy House." The conditions in which the elderly were being housed were assessed as life-threatening and health-threatening. It was also discovered that the nursing home does not provide social services, is not a provider of such services, and is not registered with the relevant registry. The republic's Ministry of Labor reported that 26 of the 32 residents were placed in other social and medical institutions, and another six were taken home by their families.

Valery Shadrin dedicated 30 years of his life to the Opera and Ballet Theatre. He secured funding and organized international internships for Yakut opera singers. He organized eight festivals and 164 concerts for Yakut musicians outside the republic, including in 14 cities in the United States. He is the author of the only ballet in the world based on Nabokov's "Lolita." He sponsored the publication of a monograph. Nadezhda Nikolaeva “The Olonkho Epic and Yakut Opera”, translated into Yakut language “Requiem” Anna Akhmatova and staged a unique stage composition based on it.
In a 2021 interview with the Kyym newspaper, Shadrin said he sold his home so his niece, his younger sister's daughter, could buy a home in the United States.
