Mifepristone-based emergency contraception has disappeared from Russian pharmacies.

Emergency contraceptive pills "Zhenale" and "Gynepristone" based on mifepristone no On the websites of major Russian pharmacies. When called, pharmacists say they've stopped supplying mifepristone medications, but they're unsure why.

From September 1, 2024, such medications will be subject to strict control, but previously they could be purchased with a special prescription. 

NeMoscow checked the websites of several pharmacies and confirmed that they do not carry medications containing mifepristone. 

There are currently two over-the-counter medications available for preventing pregnancy after unprotected sex: Escapel and Postinor.

In Russia, there is an active campaign to restrict women's rights to abortion. Abortion protection experts appear in a wide variety of medical institutions, including drug treatment centers and children's sanatoriums, to teachers pay for conducting “anti-abortion” lessons, and the doctors who perform this procedure, undergo bullying.
