The Prosecutor's Office has ordered the Karelian Research Center to resolve issues with incentive payments to scientists.

Since spring, scientists at the Karelian Research Center have been trying to obtain information about how incentive payments are being made. They contacted management and the media, but never received any clarification from the director. Later, Olga Bakhmet, the director of the Karelian Research Center, accused them of spreading "false information", which again caused outrage among scientists.

— The head of the Karelian Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences is turning the facts upside down. Moreover, Olga Bakhmet claims that young scientists are not familiar with the financial documentation. Since I am a member of the collective bargaining committee, I can report that the employees' side repeatedly requested these documents in 2025, but the employer refused to provide this information. I suspect that the Karelian Research Center administration is providing false information. сказал "Regional Aspect" by Roman Ignatenko, Senior Researcher at the Forest Institute.

The prosecutor's office settled the dispute between the scientists and the center's management. After an inspection, it confirmed that there was no order in this area and ordered the center's management to update its documentation and provide clear explanations of how and what payments were made.

According to scientists, incentive payments for scientific publications are very important—they can amount to several salaries. A senior research fellow's gross salary is no more than 57,000 rubles.

How to Wrote "Not Moscow," Russian science has been "bleeding dry" for years. Young scientists, partly because of low salaries, prefer to work abroad. Meanwhile, "pizza delivery guys" often earn twice as much as experienced scientists.
