Children from Kiselevsk in Kuzbass began the school year in a “leaky” school

Parents of students at School No. 35 complained about a hole in the building's roof, peeling plaster on the façade, and a pile of construction debris in the courtyard. The complaint was published by the Telegram channel "ProKis."

"We were forced to bring our children to the ceremonial assembly dedicated to Knowledge Day in a building that clearly did not meet safety requirements and was not ready for the start of school," the parents said.

In a statement, the Kiselevsky Urban District administration's press service explained that the major roof repairs will be completed by September 10, that the work will be carried out outside of school hours, and that there is no threat to the health or safety of schoolchildren.

The Kuzbass Ministry of Education's press service told an NGS42 correspondent that other renovations were carried out at School No. 35 over the summer, which were completed before Knowledge Day. This included replacing windows, doors, and lighting fixtures, as well as renovating some classrooms.

Roof repairs could not begin earlier because they required a positive conclusion from the Kuzbass state expert review board, which was only issued on July 11.
