Russia has caught up with China in prosthetics technology, but at what cost!
The SVO participants have enabled Russia to reach a "flagship level" in this area, the Deputy Minister of Defense stated. Anna Tsivileva.
"We're ahead of many countries. We're probably the leader in this area right now. This represents a huge investment and money," the official boasted. "The SVO participants, our veterans, have become the drivers through which the state has begun to actively implement developments and accumulated global experience in our country." Previously, state support in the field of prosthetics was limited to the formal issuance of a product, which required months-long waits. According to Tsivileva, 11,5 млн Before the "SVO", Russians with disabilities did not have the opportunity to receive the necessary rehabilitation.
However, they still can't—those who fought in the war with Ukraine are being sent out of turn and in huge numbers. The state has even developed a comprehensive special standard for them.
"The cycle includes proper preparation, fitting, and training in how to use the prosthesis. And not just how to use it, but how to maximize the lost function," Tsivileva explained.
As of April 2025, 15% of SVO soldiers with disabilities are classified as Group I, 27% as Group III, and 58% as Group II. The total number of SVO soldiers with disabilities, as well as statistics on their diagnoses, are unknown.
