Firefighters in Yakutia are being sent on unpaid leave to save money.
В Yakut Torboznoye Radio channel published A document stating that employees of the Republic's Rescue and Fire Services will be able to voluntarily take unpaid leave "for the purpose of cost optimization." This can be completed up to the end of the year. The HR department of the Yakutia Rescue Service briefly responded to questions from a NeMoskva correspondent.
— Everything is fine with us! No holidays! Goodbye! — said the man who did not introduce himself and hung up.
Problems with delayed salary payments for employees budgetary sphere began almost immediately after the start of the war: they complained road workers, utility workers, coal miners, energy drinks. According to Rosstat, companies in both the budgetary and extra-budgetary sectors at the end of June 2025 missed payments in the amount of more than 1,04 trillion rubles. In 2024, for salary arrears complained 40% more often than the year before.
Residents of Yakutia noted in the comments that the practice of unpaid leave for the sake of saving money isn't limited to the Rescue Service and fire departments. The same thing happened in the housing and utilities sector. Another Yakutia resident told a journalist about this.
"We verbally recommended that office employees take 14 days off without pay until the end of the year. They said it was voluntary, no one was forced. Some take it, some need time off for personal reasons, some don't. So far, no one has been forced. But there are a lot of branches, I don't know how things are in other branches. The union immediately said it was illegal, so there's no pressure from management, just recommendations."
— the Yakut resident said.
The Yakut people did not like the leaders’ approach.
"When a fire breaks out next summer, let the bosses put it out themselves," "Imagine, there's nothing to pay the wages of a simple worker, but they're buying buildings from each other for a billion, and thus saving their personal businesses and being proud of it," "There's only one way out - to the SVO."
"That's to be expected. After all, we've been partying hard all summer, dancing, showing off, and having fun. The money's already gone." — other commentators recalled the large-scale celebration of the Yakut national holiday in Moscow. During the celebration drowned Oymyakon Ulus, and the head of the republic never arrived at the flood.
