In Russia, 1058 people were convicted of political crimes in the first half of 2025. This is one and a half times more than the previous year.

According to the Judicial Department of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, 1058 people were convicted of politically motivated crimes in Russia in the first half of 2025. A total of 105 people were convicted of "treason" (62 in the first six months of 2024). Fifteen were convicted of "participating in the activities of an undesirable organization" (up from just two in 2024). The first verdict was also handed down in a criminal case for failure to perform "foreign agent" duties.
