"Intra-party storms in a teacup": In Novosibirsk, the leader of the Pensioners' Party began a hunger strike.

Reason for the hunger strike Edward Kozhemyakina — the results of the Novosibirsk Regional Legislative Assembly elections and the unexpected distribution of two seats won by the Russian Party of Pensioners for Social Justice. The seats were awarded to the first and second names on the party list—the deputy chair of the party's central council. To Vladimir Vorozhtsov and a deputy of the regional parliament Alexander Averkin.

It was planned that Vorozhtsov would give up his mandate and transfer it to the general director of the Iskra defense plant Sergei Kondratiev or to the owner of New Paper Company LLC Alexey ProkudinBut this never happened. Moreover, Averkin's assistant Michael Bushmakin unexpectedly took over Kozhemyakin's post and became the head of the Novosibirsk branch of the "Party of Pensioners".

"It's surprising, of course, how seriously those involved take these intra-party 'storms in a teacup.' It's also surprising that Kozhemyakin is fasting not for himself, but for Prokudin (who is this? What outstanding public and political figure is this that I don't know?)," a political scientist commented on the split in the Novosibirsk Pensioners' Party. Alexey Mazur.

Eduard Kozhemyakin headed the Novosibirsk branch of the "Party of Pensioners" for five years.
