The former head of the Russian Youth Union has been arrested and charged with embezzlement on an especially large scale.

Pavel Krasnorutsky, who headed the department from 2012 to 2023, already shipped in a pretrial detention center. Details of the criminal case are not being disclosed.

Krasnorutsky have worked He joined the Russian Youth Union in 2005 (at the age of 26). He served as Putin's trusted confidant, responsible for youth policy and the "patriotic and spiritual-moral education of children," and also served on the commission distributing presidential grants for the development of civil society.
