Pupupu or Red Flag? Gramota.ru has announced the contenders for "Word of the Year."

В shortlist — 12 words, many of which come from internet culture and youth slang (though they're often the same thing). These are: limbo, manifestation, zoomer, red flag, pupupu, sigma, imba, burnout, prompt, slop, brainrot, and highlight.

NeMoskva selected a few of its favorite words from this list to ask you: Do you know what they are? Do you use these words yourself? Or are you unaware of them and have you forbidden your children to say them?

🔸sigma - a charismatic, self-confident man, a “loner”, who does not depend on the opinions of society, follows his principles and has leadership qualities;

🔸red flag - an alarming sign that you should be careful in your relationship with this person:

🔸pupupu — an interjection, depending on the context, expressing thought, confusion, surprise, disappointment, or anything else;

🔸брейнрот — a condition caused by excessive consumption of meaningless online content (such as stupid memes) and the content itself.
