In Krasnoyarsk, metro construction workers who staged a strike outside the government building were fined.
Police officers who arrived at the scene issued the drivers tickets for parking under a no-parking sign and for failing to have a vehicle inspection. The dump trucks were removed.
Concerned Krasnoyarsk residents decided to chip in to pay the drivers' fines. Judging by the comments, more than 40 thousand rubles.
"I don't know how to record proper or beautiful videos. But I'll say a huge thank you on behalf of all three of you, you're the best people," one of the drivers thanked the residents.
Following the strike, the prosecutor's office launched an investigation, and investigators promised to determine whether there were any outstanding debts to the construction workers and take steps to repay them.
Drivers parked their dump trucks outside the Krasnoyarsk government building this morning in protest of wage arrears. According to metro workers, the subcontractor, Bamtonnelstroy, hasn't paid the drivers since August—they're already owed. 2 million rubles.
"Our management is, of course, trying to close things in stages, but that's not enough. The New Year holidays are coming up, money is already tight. Everyone has loans, everyone has mortgages, everyone has children, everyone wants to celebrate the New Year," one metro construction worker explained.
The Bamtonnelstroy metro construction subcontractor has already stated that the payment delay was due to problems with the design documentation.
"Construction is constantly in turmoil. We're building a metro today, but we don't have any design documentation for the construction site. There's no work front today. Our machines, complexes, and tunnel boring machines, arrived today, are parked underground, and four machines are parked due to a lack of design documentation," explained a Bamtonnelstroy management representative.
