Starch, soy, and beef fat: Almost 18% of dairy product samples tested in 2025 were found to be adulterated, according to Rospotrebnadzor.

This is a record: in 2024 the share of counterfeit goods made 13,09%, in 2023 – 12,04%.

According to Rospotrebnadzor, since May 2024, 613 million attempts to sell dairy products with improper labeling have been blocked at checkout counters. Of these, 333 million were expired, and 278 million were illegally produced.

According to Rosselkhoznadzor, dairy products are most often adulterated by adding vegetable oils (palm, palm kernel, coconut, and soybean) and fats, beef tallow, starch, soy, and powdered milk. Sour cream is diluted with water, kefir, and even low-fat cottage cheese. In butter, milk fat is also most often replaced with vegetable fat, as well as margarine and other hydrogenated fats.
