January 29 is Political Prisoner's Wife Day. This commemorative date was established by an initiative group of wives of Russian political prisoners.

The women appealed to Russian authorities to "listen to the voice of reason" and release their husbands:

"By locking up one of us, you're locking up the whole family. Our husbands are wonderful, smart, and kind people, and we call for, we beg, we demand, you release them.

Amnesty, pardon, exchange—we don't care on what formal grounds they return home. We don't need compensation for the unlawful prosecution and the suffering we've already endured; just give us back our husbands."

They also launched a flash mob calling for people to post photos on social media of themselves with their ring fingers outstretched and wearing a wedding ring, accompanied by the hashtag #PzkWifeDay.

Full text of the appeal from the wives of political prisoners publishes Project "Support for political prisoners. Memorial".
