Russians may be allowed to pay for heating in installments.
A State Duma deputy from A Just Russia has put forward this proposal in the context of rising utility bills. Dmitry Gusev. However, the possibility of payment by installments will only apply to pensioners and large families.
"In winter, people receive bills for amounts they can't afford to pay right away," explains Gusev. "We offer a simple and fair mechanism—an installment plan—so people don't get into debt over heating bills and can pay their utility bills without the threat of fines or arrears."
The deputy explained that he regularly receives inquiries from citizens who are "concerned about the sharp rise in the cost of heating utilities and the receipt of payment receipts with exorbitant amounts."
"An attraction of unprecedented generosity," "Next, grocery installments?", "They'd better think about minimizing utility costs," "Give us installments for life! For 70-80 years," "If only they'd provide heating services as well as they charge," — Russians react on social networks.
