And also in Not Moscow... giraffes and crocodiles have appeared in the rural museum of Yakutia!

Sixteen halls containing a collection of 4000 exhibits are housed in a practically dilapidated and unremarkable building. Blogger Roxana from Yakutsk showed off the museum in the village of Elgeyi in the Suntarsky District. 

"Animals and birds are distributed across natural zones, arranged in artistic compositions that mimic their natural environment. But here are not only representatives of the fauna of Yakutia and Russia, but also animals from various continents—giraffes, zebras, crocodiles, lions, and many others." — says Roxana. 

The museum was founded by Boris Andreyev, a local teacher. He led 30 expeditions to various regions of Yakutia, personally assembling the museum's future collection. Some animals were brought by hunters, and the pelts of exotic animals were brought from abroad with the help of Andreyev's students. 

A separate exhibition explores mammoth fauna, archaeology, and Darwinian studies. Yakut hunting equipment and the history of the region are also on display. 

"A museum of this caliber deserves to be in the capital of Yakutia, so that more people can see it. Or at least a good building." — Roxana concludes.
