Sochi without mimosa. Residents asked the mayor to take action against "black botanists."

The resort town has been left without the flowers used in bouquets: "flower thieves" are cutting them from street flowerbeds and private gardens. The theft has become a disaster, and Sochi residents have appealed to the mayor. To Andrey Proshunin.

City flower beds and squares were left without such ornamental plants as boxwood, eucalyptus, ruscus, Arizona blue cypress, silver acacia (mimosa), oleander and laurel.

"How long will this chaos continue, and not just anywhere, but right in the city center?! This is what the Herb Garden, which you opened a few months ago, looks like now. It's heartbreaking to look at these photos."- Wrote Sochi residents are in circulation.

They asked for an inspection of all flower shops selling cut flowers and to identify “black botanists”.

According to the victims, ornamental plants have been stolen before, but this scale has never been seen here: some entrepreneurs lost their businesses. For example, the family Madina Agoyan She had been growing mimosa for sale for several generations. Overnight, she lost all her plants. According to her, the mimosa was cut down throughout the entire village.

According to the administrator of a chain of flower shops Svetlana Demidova, the issue could be the sanctions and rising prices on literally everything. Because of the sanctions, supplies of flowers and other plants (in addition to bouquets) from the Netherlands have ceased, and because of rising prices, shipping them from Turkey and Azerbaijan has become more expensive.
