The authorities want to recoup the money spent on resettling some of their compatriots from abroad.
The government has decided to determine how regions will collect funds from participants in the compatriot resettlement program if they lose their status. Project The government prepared a resolution on this.

Displaced persons are planned to be given 90 days to repay their debts. Otherwise, regional authorities will go to court and collect the debt through bailiffs.
The document does not indicate whether this rule will apply to those who returned to Russia before the law was passed.
The state program for the resettlement of compatriots living abroad has been in effect since 2006. Since then, more than a million people have participated.
A similar initiative to recover the money spent voiced and the Russian Minister of Sports Mikhail Degtyarev — this refers to those who decided to change their athletic citizenship.
