"Strict but absolutely necessary measures": The governor of the Novosibirsk region commented for the first time on the mass slaughter of livestock in the region.

Andrey Travnikov stated that all events are conducted in accordance with all-Russian veterinary rules, regulations, and the country's legislation.

"Today, strict but absolutely necessary veterinary measures are being implemented in the Novosibirsk region to prevent the spread of the disease and the significant damage it could cause to the livestock industry," the head of the Novosibirsk region stated.

According to him, farmers began receiving financial compensation for slaughtered livestock at the beginning of the week. Around 200 million rubles have been allocated to compensate all affected farmers in the Novosibirsk Region. This is roughly the value of some of the slaughtered herds.

This morning, activist Sergei Krupenko held a picket in Novosibirsk against the confiscation of livestock from farmers. This occurred several hours after security forces and veterinary services arrived in the village of Kozikha and began culling animals at Vladimir Gurkin's Vodolay farm.
