Mothers from Yakutia have united to raise their children in their native language. 

Ten active women from Yakutia founded the "Kuöregöi" society to study and promote their native language among young parents. It currently has five branches in the uluses. 

"The issue of preserving our native language and culture for our children and future generations depends on each of us. We don't necessarily need to come up with any large-scale initiatives if every parent, every grandparent, every adult thinks about it and does something for their own family first." says The community's inspirer, child psychologist Yulia Androsova. 

It all started in 2019. Local bloggers began creating their pages in Yakut, promoting the fashion and importance of raising children in their native language. First, a family festival of the native language, "Kueregei," emerged, and then an entire community of the same name developed. People gather together and have casual conversations in Yakut to preserve their native language and pass it on to their children, says Androsova. She notes that the number of Yakut-speaking children in kindergartens has increased. 

The "Kuöregei" society holds quizzes in their native languages ​​for schoolchildren and students. There are so many applicants that sometimes there aren't enough spots for everyone. 

In the future, they plan to release a collection of lullabies, "Biһik Yryalara," in Yakut and hold a special children's Ysyakh festival—a traditional summer holiday. They want to make it special, so that children don't associate it with traditional trampolines.

«"So, this isn't about celebrating Ysyakh at all. We want to show children what real Ysyakh is." — says Androsova.
