The Primorsky Aquarium's press service: the published video shows a marine mammal research base

Oceanarium staff gave an explanation regarding the video clip filmed by blogger Alexander from Vladivostok. He showed footage of belugas in an area fenced in with nets that was too small for the species.

The aquarium's press service reports that the beluga whale enclosure in Paris Bay is a marine mammal research facility. Here, the cetaceans and pinnipeds adapt to captivity, and trainers study their cognitive abilities. Currently, there are four females in the enclosures: Yukka, Lena, Dvoyka, and Luna.

The base was founded in 2011. Since then, some of the animals have been transferred to the aquarium. And in 2024, another spacious enclosure was opened: the aquarium says conditions at the base are constantly improving.

Blogger Alexander emphasizes in his video that, regardless of the purpose for which belugas are used, they must be provided with adequate living conditions: belugas are very active.

There were cases in the oceanarium died Animals: Major scandals occurred in 2016 and 2022.
