Voice from the Window of NotMoscow: The Radiant Dawn of the Arctic
🎧 Harpani Solinga (his name translates from Even as "Radiant Dawn") is an ethno singer, promoter of northern culture, reindeer herder, and descendant of the Even dynasty from the Ust-Yansky district of Yakutia. His work bridges the gap between antiquity and modernity.
"I'm a naturally radiant person. I love to watch the sun, the dawn. Especially if it's the dawn of my native tundra. Imagine mountains, running reindeer—it's all in me, in my blood, and my nature, the North, are my inspiration," говорил musician.
Soling's work includes original tracks in his native language, authentic videos filmed on the lands of his nomadic ancestors, and natural clothing.
The foundations for Garpani Soling's musical career were laid in childhood, and quite symbolically. As a child, he loved falling asleep to the singing of his beloved grandmother, Evdokia Gavrilovna, and listening to her stories about nature, animals, and everyday life. His grandmother sincerely wanted her great-grandchildren to hear the songs of the Even people, so that her native language and culture would be preserved. It was then that Garpani vowed to grow up and make Evenk songs famous throughout the world.
The path to his dream was deliberate: in seventh grade, the boy moved to Neryungri to an experimental boarding school, where, among children of other indigenous peoples, he began to study ethnic music professionally. Today, Garpani is a student at the Institute of Peoples of the North (Herzen State Pedagogical University of the Russian Federation).
The artist is currently preparing to break new ground: he's shifting to a more contemporary, stylish, and youthful format, ensuring his music is relevant to a new generation. Garpani is confident that his personal brand is a huge asset, which will help him not only sing but also speak out loudly about Arctic issues on a global level.
