A Muscovite who used a hookah pipe on an Easter cake will spend more than three years in prison.

The Lefortovo Magistrates' Court sentenced the 27-year-old Ksenia Belousova She was sentenced to three years and 25 days in a general regime penal colony for "insulting religious feelings." She was taken into custody immediately after the verdict was announced.

"I have truly admitted my guilt, I repent, and I consider my actions unacceptable. I now know how important the attributes of Holy Easter are. I am a believer and go to church. My family—my father and brother—are members of the SVO, I am employed, and I had a part-time job," Belousova said in her final statement, asking for a fine. 

The prosecutor's office, in turn, requested a 3-year and 2-month prison sentence for the girl.

Last year, Ksenia received a three-year suspended sentence for drug-related offenses. In the new case, the court sentenced her to 200 hours of community service but decided to combine the sentence with her previous sentence. Ultimately, she received a prison sentence.

Belousova was arrested on April 13. The prosecution stemmed from a video on her blog showing her preparing a "hookah on Easter cake." According to the indictment, the defendant committed the offense on Easter—"a holiday of exceptional significance"—"desiring to draw public attention to her own professionalism as a hookah master." 

After her arrest, the girl was forced to apologize on camera and delete the video of the "offensive" hookah.
