Sometimes they come back: activists from Adygea have succeeded in removing the portrait of the suspended chairman of a local court from the Board of Veterans for the second time.
Social activists Adygea achieved the final (as they hope) removal of the portrait Aslana Trakhova From the Board of Veterans of the Judicial Corps. The former chairman of the republic's Supreme Court, whose assets worth 13 billion rubles had previously been seized, managed to "return" to the memorial plaque after a high-profile corruption scandal.
The reappearance of the portrait was noticed by the Telegram channel "That Same Incognito." Local human rights activists appealed to the Supreme Court of Adygea demanding the removal of Trakhov, who, they claim, "he actually disgraced the Russian judicial system and Adygea."
"Have all our dreams of restoring an incorruptible judicial system in Adygea really gone to waste? Is everything really back to the way it was?" human rights activists protested.
In an official response signed by the acting court chairman, they reported that they had held a judicial council meeting and decided to remove the portrait from the memorial plaque again.
"It remains unclear who dared, and by whose order, to return the portrait of Adygea's most recognizable corrupt official to the Veterans' Board? Are there really no cameras in the Supreme Court building, and will the perpetrator who sneaked into the court and committed this blasphemous act go unpunished?", human rights activists joke.
Trakhov headed the Supreme Court of Adygea for over 20 years, from 1998 to 2019. According to investigators, he registered illegally acquired real estate in the names of front men, and after resigning, he registered these properties in the names of his wife, father-in-law, daughter, and son. Rustem Trakhov, who is a sitting judge.
The assets of former judge Aslan Trakhov were seized at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office in September 2025. These included 118 land plots, 71 commercial premises, 11 residential buildings, 14 unfinished construction projects, and two legal entities holding assets worth 5,5 billion rubles.
However, Trakhov was not charged with any criminal offences, likely due to his status as a judge.
In February, it became known that Aslan Trakhov had been stripped of his judicial immunity.
