A Nizhnevartovsk resident guilty of a gas explosion that killed ten people was given a suspended sentence.

A Vartov resident was found guilty of violating safety regulations and destroying property. He was given a four-year suspended sentence.

The court found that a gas station attendant filled a local resident's tank with liquefied gas in freezing temperatures. He failed to check the tank's fill level and overfilled it.

The prosecutor's office plans to appeal the verdict and seek a prison sentence for the Vartov resident.

A gas cylinder explosion occurred in a residential building at 6a Mira Street in Nizhnevartovsk in December 2022. Ten people died then.
