Tree felling has begun in Bitsevsky Forest, despite promises not to do so.
Defenders of the Bitsevsky Forest in the Moscow region have documented tree felling. Earlier, Yasenevo Municipal District Deputy Maya Bucharskaya promisedthat trees will not be cut down in this area.
"The marked route is approximately 6,5 meters wide, which will require the removal of a significant number of trees. Some of these have already been cleared, and it's clear they're not dead wood, as the deputies claimed," write activists.
In a conversation with NeMoskva, they noted that Deputy Bucharskaya left their questions unanswered and made no comment on the situation. She also did not respond to NeMoskva. Construction trailers have been erected in Butovo, and the felling has begun there.
In addition, in some places, the route is planned to pass through plantings of the "Our Tree" project. This environmental project was carried out in the Moscow region from 2019 to 2021, allowing anyone to plant a named tree. In 2021, it was reported that submitted more than 8,000 applications for planting. And the goal of the project было landscaping of specially protected natural areas of the region.
