A "fuel oil rain" fell in Rybinsk after a drone attack on an oil depot.

Following a Ukrainian drone strike on an oil depot in Rybinsk, residents are reporting unusual sediment mixed with petroleum products. A black, oily deposit has coated cars, houses, and vegetation. The governor of the Yaroslavl region has not commented on the situation.

What happened

Photos and videos of a black, oily coating settling on surfaces after precipitation have appeared in city chats and public groups.

"Here come the drops. Look: everything is black, just black. Dirty liquid is dripping down from above. Horrible. I've never seen anything like this," comments the author of one of the videos.

Eyewitnesses also reported that an oily film covered the Volgotnya River, which flows approximately 20 kilometers from Rybinsk. Local residents have already called the incident an environmental disaster. Yaroslavl public groups are posting instructions on what to do if caught in a "fuel oil rain."

The authorities are silent

Yaroslavl Region Governor Mikhail Evraev has not yet commented on the situation. His last social media post was dedicated to congratulating the people on Textile and Light Industry Day.

Not the first time

Similar oil rains fell in Tuapse in April, also following drone strikes on oil depots.
