A powerful, destructive hurricane is raging in the Nizhny Novgorod region. Strong, squalling winds in the Arzamas district have caused numerous power outages, massive tree falls, and damage to residential buildings, resulting in the death of a child.

A deadly blow from the elements in the village of Vyezdnoye

A five-year-old girl died as a result of dangerous weather conditions in the workers' settlement of Vyezdnoye. Elements of a building collapsed due to hurricane-force winds and pierced the roof of the building where the child was located. The tragic news was officially confirmed by Alexander Shchelokov, head of the Arzamas city district.

"A great tragedy. A girl died in the workers' settlement of Vyezdnoye. Construction work fell on the roof of a house. Condolences to the family and friends. It's painful."

Therefore, emergency rescue operations are currently underway in the district. In addition to the torn-down building structures in Vyezdnoye itself, the roofs of many private homes in neighboring villages of the Arzamas district were seriously damaged.

Forecasters predict that heavy rain and hail will continue.

Therefore, it's too early for local residents and emergency services to relax. Hydrometeorological Center specialists previously warned that dangerous gusts of wind and heavy precipitation were expected in the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

As a result, forecasters predict heavy rainfall will continue in the region until late into the night. Furthermore, in some areas of the Nizhny Novgorod region, there remains a high risk of large hail.
