Another major oil refinery in Russia has shut down – it is located in Bashkortostan.
That Gazprom neftekhim Salavat stopped processing oil and gas condensate, сообщает Reuters, citing industry sources.
The largest oil refinery in the country was attacked yesterday morning. Eyewitnesses reported plumes of smoke. Later, an attack on the enterprise confirmed head Bashkortostan Radiy KhabirovHe also promised that restoration work would "continue around the clock" and would only take a few days. However, Reuters sources clarified that the repairs could take several months.
The Salavat refinery processed more than 7 million tons of oil per year—almost 3% of the total oil refining volume in Russia.
Last week, due to a drone attack stopped work of the oil refinery in Saratov — it also processed up to 7 million tons of oil per year.
At least 15 Russian refineries have currently fully or partially shut down operations. The largest of these are Omsk (21 million tons of oil per year) and Leningradsky (17,5 million tons of oil per year).
