An oil refinery is believed to be on fire in Perm after a drone attack.
In Perm, after yet another drone attack, the largest oil refinery, Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez, allegedly caught fire. Local residents and monitoring channels are reporting the incident en masse.
What happened at Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez
Ukrainian Telegram monitoring channels are reporting a new attack on Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez (PNOS). Furthermore, independent Telegram channels in Perm and local residents are actively spreading speculation about the same.
Looks like they got caught under the PNOS after all
Smoke at PNOS, on the outskirts of the city
Moreover, even pro-government media outlets have confirmed the presence of thick smoke over the city. Specifically, three waves of sirens and loudspeaker warnings have been reported, urging people to turn off electricity, gas, and water, and to immediately move away from windows. As a result, five flights are currently delayed at Perm Airport, both arriving and departing.
The context and significance of the Perm Oil Refinery
LUKOIL-Permnefteorgsintez is one of the largest oil refineries in Russia. Its design oil refining capacity is 13,1 million tons per year.
However, this isn't the first blow to Nefteorgsintez—the last attack occurred in May. Previously, following attacks on this and several other refineries, it was reported that up to 11% of the country's oil refining capacity had been disabled. Our colleagues at Pol' Zreniye (Field of View) published a detailed report from the "Ural front."
