The teachers' union has spoken out against the intrusive public service advertisement "Children Instead of Flowers."
Teachers found the "Children Instead of Flowers" ad offensive. It calls for donations to the treatment of seriously ill children instead of numerous bouquets of flowers on September 1st. They expressed their opinion in the Teacher's Trade Union group on VKontakte.
According to school teachers, the holiday should remain a celebration for teachers and children, no matter what. Funds for charity can be sought from other sources.
"People haven't brought flowers to exams in a long time. At graduations, parents give girls huge bouquets. They give flowers to doctors in maternity hospitals. At events, officials give each other huge, expensive bouquets. But only a teacher's bouquet should be used to organize charity."- you said the essence of the problem is in the group.
Charity event "Children Instead of Flowers" came up with Moscow school teacher Asya Stein In 2014, the point is that in modern Russia, parents spend a huge amount of money on bouquets, while a teacher doesn't need that many flowers. Instead, they can chip in for one bouquet and donate the rest to charity.
NeMoscow asked teachers from the regions for their opinions.
I've been a teacher for 15 years, and I'm never tired of receiving flowers on September 1st or Teacher's Day. These are the two or three days a year when I truly feel like a teacher and a woman, not a workhorse or a service worker.“- the elementary school teacher answered.
