Hail in Khakassia, a tornado in Khabarovsk Krai, and forest fires in Yakutia: regions suffering from natural disasters
Russian regions have been hit by a series of unusual natural disasters. Siberia and the Far East have been hit by large hailstorms, forest fires, floods, and unusual atmospheric phenomena.
Khakassia: Egg-sized hail and ice piles
A severe hailstorm struck Khakassia. Specifically, the village of Moskovskoye in the Ust-Abakansky District received precipitation the size of a chicken egg. Local residents' vegetables in their private gardens were completely destroyed—even potatoes, deep in the ground, were damaged.

Local residents also reported significant damage to cars, homes, and trees. According to eyewitnesses, the ice didn't melt for five hours, forcing people to clear the debris by hand. Near the village of Sorsk, access to a major natural monument, Borodinskaya Cave, was blocked. As a result, the popular attraction is temporarily closed to visitors.
Tornado in Khabarovsk Krai and flooding in Transbaikalia
However, an equally challenging situation has developed in the Far East. Hail struck Khabarovsk Krai, damaging crops and vehicles. Before the storm hit, witnesses captured a veritable tornado on video on the highway near Lake Gassi, a unique phenomenon for the region. Furthermore, flooding is approaching the region: rising waters in the Amur River have already halted river transport to China.
Meanwhile, the village of Vostochny in the Zabaikalsky Krai has been flooded. Residents report that water is even entering homes built on elevated ground. Due to persistent downpours, experts predict further water levels will rise.
State of emergency declared due to forest fires in Yakutia
While some areas are suffering from water and hail, others are engulfed in flames. A state of emergency has been officially declared in the Mirny District of Yakutia due to 21 active forest fires. The situation is particularly critical near the village of Aikhal, where the fire has grown by 1500 hectares in just 24 hours, reaching over 2400 hectares.
As a result, the dire wildfire situation also persists in the Krasnoyarsk Krai, Tomsk Oblast, and the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. Currently, Avialesookhrana specialists are involved in extinguishing 101 forest fires across nine regions of Russia.
