The "Unique Pedagogical Potential" of SVEO officers and the Grace of Officials: #ShameReview from "NotMoscow"

In the new edition of the "#ShameReview" column, the NeMoskva editorial team has compiled the most striking and absurd events of the week in Russia's regions. The focus is on war veterans in schools, bureaucratic slang on social media, patriotic school bells, and the "heroic" repair of a sinkhole in Novosibirsk.

The "pedagogical potential" of veterans and anonymous comments from an official

The Russian Ministry of Education has identified "unique pedagogical potential" in veterans of the war with Ukraine. The ministry believes they could teach courses in "Life Safety" and "Basic Military Training" to schoolchildren.

The staff of the State University of Education has proven that the knowledge, experience, and personal qualities of veterans are in demand and relevant in the patriotic education of children and youth, developing a culture of safety and readiness to defend the Fatherland.

Meanwhile, Maxim Turkin, Director of the Ryazan Region Government's Office, forgot about anonymity on social media. The official couldn't ignore a humorous post by local activist Maria Rakcheeva and unleashed a barrage of rude comments from an account with an abstract nickname, calling his followers a "herd" and "morons." However, the anonymous user was quickly exposed, as his phone number was saved in the contacts of residents of the region.

Maidanov's school bells and "heroic" repairs in Novosibirsk

Consequently, changes will also affect school life across the country. Starting September 1, traditional school bells in Russian schools will be replaced with Soviet and patriotic songs, according to the Ministry of Education. Specifically, Denis Maidanov's "Song of the First" will be played in the hallways in September. The "Melodies Instead of Bells" project was launched back in November 2024, and children had previously been played songs such as "Mother Russia" and "Flag of My State."

Novosibirsk authorities also distinguished themselves. Mayor Maxim Kudryavtsev proposed awarding workers cleaning up the 15-meter sinkhole in the Gorsky housing estate.

Our employees repaired the pipe in four days. This is, dare I say it, heroic work. I'm still impressed by the work of our employees. Our people have been working waist-deep in wastewater for over a month now.

However, the repairs themselves are still far from complete. Ultimately, the estimated date for the sinkhole's full restoration was set for November 1st.
