On September 15, it became known that the activist cut his hands in the Almaty pretrial detention center, where he is awaiting extradition to Russia. 

"I'm tired of injustice! Neither the court nor the prosecutor's office listens to us! They [Kadyrov's men] will torment me, torture me, and kill me," Movlaev wrote in his suicide note. "For 16 months, I lived in fear of being extradited, and in hope... Now there's only fear."
