A record-breaking drone strike on Moscow, the finale of three-day elections, and a gas explosion near Perm: overnight news
Authorities reported the largest Ukrainian drone attack on Moscow since the start of the military conflict. Meanwhile, Russia entered the third day of the three-day vote, and a gas cylinder explosion in the Perm region sent an entire family to intensive care.
Record drone attack on Moscow and Russian regions
More than 1600 drones have been shot down since yesterday while repelling the attack on Moscow, according to Mayor Sergei Sobyanin's official report. According to him, this is the most massive strike on the capital. Specifically, the local oil refinery, one of Russia's largest refineries, is on fire as a result of the attack. Residential buildings were also attacked, killing two people and injuring ten more. The "Modern Warehouse Technologies" warehouse complex in Sofyino was hit.
Consequently, unrest also raged in dozens of other regions across the country. Last night, 1110 Ukrainian drones were intercepted and destroyed over Russian regions, the Ministry of Defense reported. Strikes were recorded over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, Ryazan, Tula, Kaluga, Vladimir, Nizhny Novgorod, Tambov, Voronezh, Lipetsk, Moscow, Smolensk, Oryol, Rostov, Volgograd, Saratov, Samara regions, and the Krasnodar Territory.
However, the night was also tragic for the border country. Russian strikes on Kyiv Oblast killed three people, including two small children, and wounded two more.
The third day of elections and turnout figures
The final, third day of three-day voting has begun in Russia. As of 07:50 AM Moscow time, voter turnout exceeded 45%, the Central Election Commission reported.
As a result, the leading regions included territories bordering Ukraine and the annexed regions. Pro-government experts attribute these high figures to early voting and the turnout of loyal voters, while independent analysts point to widespread administrative pressure and the widespread use of remote electronic voting.
Gas explosion tragedy in Perm Krai
However, a serious incident was also recorded in the Ural region. In the Perm village of Poedugi, a gas cylinder explosion sent a family of five to intensive care with severe burns.
The incident occurred in a summer kitchen, where a 120-liter gas cylinder, previously removed from a car, depressurized and detonated during a holiday feast. A one-year-old girl and her father suffered burns to up to 90% of their bodies and are currently in critical condition, while two other women and an eighteen-month-old child were hospitalized with injuries to 30 to 40% of their bodies.
