The alcohol level is rising: authorities want to raise duties on strong alcohol from "unfriendly countries."
How to сообщают According to Kommersant's sources, the import duty on imported alcohol could almost double, from €3 to €5 per liter. Converted to the average price of a bottle, this would amount to a markup of ₽100–200.
One source emphasizes that the new duties could come into effect as early as November 1. And the authorities' logic is clear—the New Year holidays are just around the corner.
Currently, the duty on alcohol from "unfriendly countries" is 20% of the customs value of the product. The minimum duty starts at 3 euros.
Experts believe that increasing the price of strong alcohol primarily benefits Russian producers, who sell their products at higher prices than their foreign counterparts.
