Click and the cat dines: Russia launches feeding program for homeless cats

The St. Petersburg-based "Ryadom" Foundation has launched an interactive feeding program for homeless cats: the "PawsOnline" project allows for remote feeding of animals from Russian shelters.

Feeding stray cats by clicking on them

Project PawsOnline, launched by the St. Petersburg-based foundation "Nearby," allows you to remotely feed animals from various shelters across Russia.

The developers installed automatic feeders with cameras in the enclosures and broadcast the feed online. Users donate, and the device instantly dispenses a portion of food to the furry creature.

"This is an interactive platform that blurs the lines between the desire to help and actual action," the project description reads. "We combine livestreaming technology and charity so anyone can feed a cat at a shelter, from anywhere in the world."

116 shelter cats are waiting to be fed.

The website currently offers the opportunity to feed 116 cats from a dozen shelters across Russia. For each feeding, the virtual Kotaro will perform a tarot reading and give you a good fortune.

Mary, Cloudberry, Sambuca, Pistachio, Gingerbread and other fluffy ones are waiting for you - in catologist.
