What to do with the old lamp factory? Turn the lights back on.
Business evolution, Tomsk style: a new public space, "Lampochka," has appeared on the premises of a former light bulb factory with an 80-year history.
The city's first gastronomic hall opened here: two dozen international cuisines, coffee shops, bars, fast food, and restaurants. A coworking space and an eSports club have also opened.
— A large spa space will be built within two years, and the opening of dance schools is planned, — the space’s director shared with NeMoskva Rustam Karimov.
According to Karimov’s calculations, during the first month, people came to Lampochka 128 thousand guests.
The Tomsk Electric Lamp Plant opened during the Great Patriotic War. It produced incandescent light bulbs for military vehicles, transport, and mining equipment. Over 70 years of operation, it produced over 6 billion bulbs.
In 2010, TELZ was declared bankrupt. It became the basis for the "LIGHT OF THE 21ST VEKA" group of companies, later transformed into LEADLight. In December 2022, the Tomsk Light Bulb Plant ceased production of incandescent lamps, but continues to manufacture LED lighting in a different facility.
Now, a new chapter has begun in the plant's history. Remaining in the vacated space of the largest building will be the checkpoint with the guardhouse, an installation, and an art patch dedicated to the history of TELZ, as well as the plant's atmosphere, the lofty vibe, and, of course, light bulbs. Lots of light bulbs!
