"We can find space for a landfill, but not for a school": Residents of the Kuban village of Borisovka recorded a video message to Vladimir Putin.
They asked to stop the construction of the Terra-N landfill in their village and build a school instead.
"In 2014, a landfill, or more accurately, a regular dump, was built for us under the guise of a waste processing plant. Over the years of operation, the owners have failed to make the facility safe for the environment and the residents of the community." complain Inhabitants Borisovka.
They disagree with plans to expand the Terra-N landfill: the new master plan proposes using 20 hectares of forest for this purpose. This, incidentally, would be enough to build the first school in Borisovka. The village has a population of over 12,000, about 2,000 of whom are of school age.
"So, it turns out that we can find space for a landfill, but not for a school? We urge you to assist in closing and reclaiming the landfill, support the opening of modern waste processing facilities away from populated areas, and resolve the school issue." — the locals ask.
In the summer, the Terra-N company's landfill on the mountain Shchelba near Borisovskaya burned Several times. From June 9 to 22, the fire spread over an area of 1,000 square meters. And the fire on August 23 engulfed 2,000.
Also earlier residents of Borisovka requested Putin to make a "strong-willed decision" and close the landfill, as it is poisoning their only source of water.
In February 2023, the head of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin ordered a criminal investigation into the landfill's environmental threat in Borisovka. However, no information on the investigation has been released yet.
