"The river's been stolen!" A river in the Klepikovsky district near Ryazan has dried up. Artificial landscape modification is to blame.

Photo of a stream that remains from a full-flowing river Pry River, published In the group "Spas-Klepiki Online." The caption under the photo reads: "Pra has practically disappeared."
A member of the Wild Tour of Meshchera club Marina Nyrkova suggested that "[the river water ended up] in the freshly dug ponds of the base"Polushkino"and in the still unexcavated ponds of the Olkha tract".
An expert from the Russian Ecological Society objected to her. Violetta BlackAccording to her, most of the ponds were dug a year ago. And it's not just about them, but also about «a system of drainage channels blocked by dam embankments. And all of this work was carried out without federally regulated water and subsoil use licenses in the riverbed and adjacent areas, as well as the floodplain."
- It's like a system of interconnected vessels, — the expert explained to NeMoskva. — If groundwater from the river drains into ponds, and there are more and more of them, then the river's water content decreases. This requires a multifactorial analysis, but overall, everything is clear. The river suffered serious damage.

According to some local residents, the first ponds were dug back in 2015. Then there was a lull, and in 2022, work to radically transform the landscape resumed.
Local residents commented: "Greed. There's nothing new under the sun," "It was a nice river... Horrible," "They stole the prue!"
Let us recall that earlier, for the sake of the tourism business, the governor Pavel Malkov leased out to the investor Rook's grove — a sacred place for Ryazan residents. A group of activists has been fighting against glamping there since the summer.
Malkov, a native of Saratov, previously served as the head of Rosstat and has been head of the Ryazan Region since September 2022.
