Gamers are against it: "This is a new tool of surveillance and censorship, not protection."

Bill entered A proposal was submitted to the State Duma last week. Its authors propose collecting the personal data of all users who play mobile and computer games. Identification would be via a mobile phone, the Gosuslugi portal, or the Unified Biometric System.

Petition Members of the youth branch of the Yabloko party from Yekaterinburg filed a petition against this law.

This bill provides for new regulations and restrictions that are not only unnecessary, but also harmful to the gaming industry and players, the chairman of the Sverdlovsk youth branch of Yabloko explained to NeMoskva Ivan Lukin. - This is a new tool for surveillance and censorship, not protection. It empowers intelligence agencies and harms the gaming community.

The petition emphasizes that the bill was not even discussed with representatives of the gaming industry.

Furthermore, there are concerns that the restrictions will not be observed by the main game distributors – Steam and GOG (and this will serve as a formal reason for blocking them in Russia).

The youth Yabloko party believes that this parliamentary initiative does not serve the interests of citizens and will lead to the blocking of major gaming platforms and a decline in the competitiveness of the gaming industry.

The petition's authors demand that State Duma deputies abandon this bill or at least hold a broad discussion involving representatives of the gaming industry and those involved in it.

It is noteworthy that today Roskomnadzor сообщил, that over the first 11 months of this year, 680 million records containing personal data of Russian citizens were leaked online. This is more than double the amount leaked last year.

Despite this, the agency continues to insist on collecting personal data, which is increasingly leaked onto the global network and falling into the hands of fraudsters.
