In the new premises Alexander Kynev is kept with four cellmates, and the bathroom is equipped with “normal plumbing equipment”, сообщил lawyer Mikhail Biryukov.
“Alexander is very touched by the support expressed to him in letters from various people, sometimes previously unknown, and thanks everyone,”
— the defender writes.

Hunger strike due to conditions in pretrial detention center

Biryukov previously stated that Alexander Kynev was forced to go on a hunger strike in the pretrial detention center due to living conditions unsuitable for his condition. According to his lawyer, the political scientist was placed in an overcrowded cell for 35 people with a squat toilet, which he is unable to use due to a cast applied after a double leg fracture. The fracture, according to the defense, was received as a result of torture during detention.

On September 25, shortly after the State Duma elections, one of Russia's most renowned experts on elections and regional politics, Alexander Kynev, was sent to pretrial detention. He was charged with "attempted drug trafficking on a large scale."
